The Haymarket Interchange Stage 1 Report (May 2006)

Volume 1: Main report on development and appraisal of long listed options

Volume 2: Appendices.

Please note these are very large documents and may take some time to download fully. This report details the process undertaken during Stage 1 of the Study, where a wide range of potential options were assessed, some being rejected with reasoned justification on route developing a 'long list' of 12 options. The report described how each of the longlist options were appraised in detailed against the project objectives, implementability criteria and the Government's Scottish Transport Appraisal Guidance (STAG) objectives (i.e. economy, environment, safety, integration and accessibility/ social inclusion).

The Haymarket Interchange Stage 2 Report (June 2006)

This report and appendices details the process undertaken during Stage 2 of the Study, where the project board agreed that the six options which were assessed as potentially achieving the project objectives, implementability criteria and STAG objectives were worth further consideration. top

The Haymarket Interchange Stage 3 Report(July 2007)

Volume 1: Main Report on the appraisal of the short list options
Volume 2: Appendices

This report and appendices details the process undertaken during Stage 3 of the Study. It saw the refinement of 6 Options to 3 Short List Options; A, B & C. Each option was tested and measured through different methods: Scottish Transport Appraisal Guidelines (STAG) Analysis, Commercial Review, Consultation etc and merited respectively. The consultant presented all three Options to the Project Board, with the consultants’ final recommendation being to pursue Option A as the Preferred Option in the Final Stage. top

The Haymarket Interchange Stage 4 Report (August 2007)

Approval was given by the Project Board that Option A was the Preferred Option and Stage 4 is a formal record of this. top

The Haymarket Interchange Feasibility Study Final Report (April 2008)

Volume 1: HIFS Final Report
Volume 2: Appendices

The final stage of the Feasibility Study has now been completed. It details the further development of the Preferred Option into the Study Proposal. Complete with final conclusions and recommendations, there is also greater detail on the potential of the implementation of the Proposal through funding opportunities, identification of risks to the proposal and summary of the costs and development opportunities.

Halcrow User Survey Commentary

In November 2006 the Haymarket Interchange team commissioned a survey from George Street Research to establish current behaviour and attitudes of public transport users in the vicinity of Haymarket Station. The survey also allowed participants to comment on the existing Haymarket Station facilities. The results of this study are detailed in this document.

Stage 3: Option Appraisal Process (Technical Paper March 2007)

This paper explains the development of the original 12 options, the process of shortlisting to six options and how the feasibility of the six shortlisted options was reviewed and subsequently how they were refined to three options. The document also demonstrates how options are to be appraised towards the end of Stage 3 and how it is expected that a single preferred option will be identified.
